Target & processing

The North America Nebula, NGC 7000, appears as a glowing star-forming region in the constellation Cygnus, its wispy tendrils stretching across the sky like a celestial brushstroke. This is a young open cluster of stars, likely born from the collapse of a giant molecular cloud. In the summer sky, Cygnus rises with the setting sun, marking the beginning of a long night of astronomical observation. The North America Nebula is located approximately 1,892 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus.

This was my first target acquired with a dedicated astro camera, and it was such a pleasure and easy compared to the Sony a7II. The camera can be cooled, can acquired subs with more than 30s exposure, doesn't require acquiring darks every time (because the a7II cannot be cooled down, dark had to be acquired at every session to account for the change of temperature of the camera). It was game changing.

Note to self

In retrospective, I'm not a big fan of the processing I did, and I was planning to re-do it, but I realized I only acquired 1 night of data, and its not enough to my taste to have good masters, especially in Bortle 9. My masters are very noisy, so if I want to reprocess this image, I will need to re-acquired more data.
